Issue - Local Users Password Not Working After Profile Migration

Symptom

 

After migrating a Local User with Profile Migration, you are unable to sign into the account with the previously defined password.

Cause

 

If you are migrating background users whose account names use Double Byte Character Set (DBCS) characters, the logon passwords for the newly created user accounts at the target computer are set to Passw0rd and are case-sensitive. - System Migration Assistant Deployment Guide Version 6.0

 

Solution

 

There are 2 options:

  • Log in with the new password: Passw0rd
  • Log in as a different user with appropriate permissions, and change the users password accordingly.

 

Note: LDMS utilizes Lenovo's SMA for Profile migration. As such, LANDESK does not control distinguishing when a user's account password will be changed during a profile migration.
