Purpose
This article covers Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding the LDMS PXE Representative.
What specs does a PXE rep require?
The PXE rep service is very lightweight when it comes to system resources needed to run.
The machine selected to act as the PXE rep:
- Must run a Windows OS
- Be a supported agent OS for the build in use - https://community.landesk.com/support/docs/DOC-23848
- Requires wired network access to hand out DHCP packets for PXE booting
Can I have one PXE rep in use for multiple subnets?
PXE reps are designed to be used per subnet. This means that each subnet should have its own local PXE rep. Utilizing a PXE rep for multiple subnets is untested and not supported.
Can I install a PXE rep on my DHCP Server?
Because of the way PXE reps handle dhcp options related to PXE booting, the rep should not be installed on your DHCP Server. Installing a PXE rep on a DHCP server is untested and not supported.
